To receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) in Oregon, you must have a medical condition that meets the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) strict definition of disability. This means your condition must be severe enough to prevent you from working for at least 12 months or be expected to result in death.

Find out if you qualify for SSDI benefits. Pre-qualify in 60 seconds for up to $4,018 per month and 12 months back pay.

Please answer a few questions to help us determine your eligibility.

SSA’s Listing of Impairments

The SSA maintains a “Listing of Impairments”, also known as the Blue Book, which outlines medical conditions that automatically meet the criteria for disability if properly documented. Common qualifying conditions include:

  • Musculoskeletal disorders – such as chronic back pain, joint dysfunction, or spinal disorders
  • Neurological disorders – including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, or traumatic brain injury
  • Mental health conditions – such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or PTSD
  • Cardiovascular issues – like congestive heart failure or coronary artery disease
  • Respiratory disorders – including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or asthma
  • Autoimmune conditions – such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis
  • Cancer – depending on the type and severity
  • Digestive and kidney disorders – like Crohn’s disease or end-stage renal disease

Even if your condition isn’t specifically listed, you may still qualify if it’s medically equivalent to a listed impairment.

Medical Evidence Is Key

Regardless of the diagnosis, your condition must be backed by strong medical evidence showing how it limits your ability to work. This includes:

  • Doctor’s records
  • Test results
  • Treatment history
  • Functional limitations

A detailed explanation from your physician about how your condition affects your daily activities and job performance can make a big difference.
